Appointments

blood_testThe practice operates an appointment system. We offer a routine appointment when the next one is available to any patient contacting the practice. If we have a cancellation you will be offered the cancelled appointment if available.

On the day emergency appointment

We have started a triage system whereby reception staff will be asking patients the reason they need the appointment. This helps the Staff to signpost you to the most convenient service to help you with your health problem or query. This could be

  • pharmacy first service
  • Advance nurse practitioner
  • nurse
  • your regular GP or GP
  • secretary

The doctors would be very grateful if you co-operate with the staff when they ask you questions and reason for appointment

If no appointments are left and it's an urgent matter you will be offered a telephone consultation in the morning with a GP. You will need to phone before 10am for a telephone ringback. The duty doctor will call you back after his normal morning session.

Children --The practice policy is that we see all children under 2 yrs of age on the day. Parents need to make an appointment in the morning, if you walk in then you will have to wait till GP finishes his normal morning surgery.

An appointment with the doctor can be booked up to four weeks in advance.

Appointments to see the nurse or midwife are booked by telephoning reception, these appointments are all pre-bookable.

Please remember GP appointments are for 10 minutes. If you have several problems to discuss it is sensible to deal with a couple in one consultation and then make another appointment. If you are unable to attend an appointment please telephone the surgery at least a day before so that appointment can be given to another patient. Also remember that an appointment is for one person and no other member of the family can be seen in the same appointment.

Patients who miss three or more appointments without cancellation in one year will be asked to register with another practice.

Emergencies

Although the practice operates an appointment system any emergency cases will be seen immediately if needed. Any child who is ill will be seen as soon as possible if the parents are worried, if you are unsure please telephone the receptionists for further information. When the surgery is closed there is always an out of hours doctor on call. Please ring 111.
